Cheryl Cole named World’s Sexiest Woman 2009 by FHM

The first place finish for Cole, who is married to the Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole, is the first for a British contender in three years of the magazine’s poll.

A surprise result at number four was the American singer Britney Spears, who was expected to fall out of the top 100 following a turbulent year.

FHM’s 100 Sexiest supplement, featuring 52 pages of “the hottest women in the world”, is in the June edition of FHM, on sale now.
